Composition:
Melanin is a polymeric brown or dark pigment produced by melanocytes and distributed throughout the skin, fur, eyes and other tissues. It has an important function in maintaining epidermal homeostasis. Melanin absorbs UV radiation and dissipates most of the absorbed energy as heat, thus protecting the skin.
An imbalanced metabolism of the melanin pigment can cause skin pigmentation disorders. Hypopigmentation occurs when melanin synthesis is abnormally reduced.
Double the amount of Phenylalanine and Tyrosine required for growth in both dogs and cats is required to produce and maintain the normal black coat color.
Due to the lack of Phenylalanine and Tyrosine, red hair develops in adult dogs, and in kittens red fur, which may progress to ataxia, vocalization, ptilism, hyperactivity and abnormal tail posture if continued for more than 6 months.
Astaxanthin has a number of different functions in skin biology, including photoprotective, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, acting on several different steps of the oxidative stress cascade, while simultaneously inhibiting inflammatory mediators.
Folic acid participates in DNA repair, antioxidant defense, collagen production, and melanin synthesis, indirectly supporting skin health and protecting against photoaging, while also promoting skin cell production and renewal.
Directions for Use:
1 capsule daily up to 10 kg BW or follow the guidance of your veterinary surgeon.
